Donald Flanagan, 61, of Statham, died Thursday, June 2, 2011. A native of Athens, he was a truck driver for D&D Transport and served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late Ernest Flanagan and Mary Shedd Flanagan. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Flanagan, of Statham, daughter Tanya Flanagan of Statham, daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Sherman Williams of Bogart and Dennis and Reggie Shields of Winder, grandchildren Traci Flanagan, Nicholas Flanagan, Christian Shields, Josiah Shields, Ryland Jaggers, Sherman Williams, Jr. and Montavious Williams, brother Marvin Flanagan of Lexington and sister Bettyanne Hair of Okeechobee, Fla. Funeral services will be Sunday, June 5 at 2 p.m. in the Smith Memory Chapel with Rev. Buhl Cummings officiating. Interment will follow in Barrow Memorial Gardens. Smith Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
