Nov. 13, 1937 - Aug. 22, 2011 Donald L. Adams Donald Leigh Adams, 73, of Tuscaloosa died Monday at DCH Regional Medical Center. Memorial services will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South. He was preceded in death by his parents, Basil Adams and Louise Andrews Adams, and his brother, Esmond Adams. Survivors include his nephews, Ruskins Adams of St. Louis, Mo., and Thomas Adams of Jefferson City, Mo. Born Nov. 13, 1937, in Birmingham, Don grew up in Huntsville and graduated high school there in 1955. He received a B.S. degree from the University of Alabama in 1959, a M.S. degree from Auburn in 1967 and a Ph.D. from Georgia in 1972. Don taught psychology as an associate professor at Fort Valley State University from 1971 to 1995 and founded the university's psychology department. He retired to Tuscaloosa, where he followed his beloved Crimson Tide football. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Donald L. Adams Scholarship Fund at Birmingham-Southern University or the Humane Society of Tuscaloosa. Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home South is in Charge of arrangements.
