Dona H. White, 85, died peacefully on September 18, 2010, with family and friends at her side. She was a resident of New Horizon Senior Citizen Home in Inverness, FL, and formerly of Belmont and Pittsburg, NH. Born May 15, 1925, in Nashua, NH, she attended Northfield School for Girls in East Northfield, MA; then graduated from Simmons College in Boston, MA, as a registered dietician. She worked as a nutritionist for the Laconia, NH, schools and the Lakes Regional General Hospital prior to becoming employed by the state of New Hampshire until her retirement.Mrs. White was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables. She loved wildlife and bird watching. In winter, she snowmobiled with her family. With her husband, Richard, she traveled by RV to most of the states, including Alaska. Mrs. White spent her recent years in Florida, enjoying concerts, museums, festivals and friends. She had a cheerful and positive attitude, earning her many friends.She will be dearly missed by all. Mrs. White is preceded in death by her husband, Richard and brother, David Hopkins. Remaining family include a son, Donald of Alton, NH; a daughter, Nancy of Inverness, FL; a grandson, Eric; and great-granddaughter, Lyndi Jean, all of Alton, NH; as well as a brother, Daniel.A celebration of life will be held Sunday, September 26, 2010, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Whispering Pines Park in Inverness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
