WILSON, (Carol) Diane Carol Diane Wilson (nee Woodcock) of Sidney, BC passed away on December 7, 2010 at the age of 75. She was born on January 24, 1935 in Winnipeg, MB and spent her early years there. As the daughter of a Minister, she was active in Scarborough United Church. After high school, she decided to pursue a career of helping others and received a Degree in Nursing. During this time, she met a young RCMP Officer, John Hugh Wilson, and married him shortly after. John's early RCMP career took them to Yellowknife, NWT, which ended up being a special time in their lives where several lifelong friendships were made. After Yellowknife, they moved to Ottawa, ON and then Edmonton, AB, where they finished raising their three children. They moved to Sidney, BC in 1996 to spend their retirement and re-connect with former Yellowknifers. Diane loved spending time with family and friends. At home, she put her talent and creativity to use sewing and knitting clothes for her children and cooking delicious meals for the family. Her interests outside the home included golf, skiing, singing in the Church Choir and playing bridge. Diane will be remembered most for her caring and fun loving personality. She developed many deep and lasting friendships with others due to her easy going manner and strong sense of loyalty. She was adored by her husband. As a Mother, she was always supportive and non-judgmental. She was not one to seek attention, but was often the center of it. She will surely be missed by family and friends. Diane was preceded in death by her husband John and brother Pat Woodcock. She is survived by her son Michael Wilson and family of Coquitlam, BC; son Craig Wilson and family of Bellingham, WA; and daughter Susan Thuynsma and family of Sidney, BC. The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff of the Sidney Care Home for their professionalism and kindness in caring for Diane in her final years. A private celebration of life will be held for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
