LEE, Desmond "Des" It is with deep sadness that Desmond's family announce his passing at the age of 78 on Sunday, April 12, 2009 in Ottawa, Ontario. Des was a civil servant for 28 years, former professional hockey player, avid golfer and curler. Beloved husband of Claudette (nee Leblanc), dear father of Chris (Shannon) and Kevin (Danielle). Lovingly remembered by his 4 grandchildren, Ava, Brennan, Emma and Lucas. Special thanks to caregiver Maria Robinson and nurse Kathy Lapinski from Carefore for their care and compassion and to special friends Ruth and Flo for their tremendous support. Des will also be dearly missed by his many friends especially Ted and Pam. Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt) on Thursday, April 16th, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Roman Catholic Church, 153 Woodroffe Avenue on Friday, April 17th, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
