WILLIAMS, David November 27, 1934 - September 2, 2003 David, after a courageous battle with acute leukemia, passed away September 2, 2003 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Dublin, Ireland, he was the son of the late Judy (Macan) and Owen Williams. He is survived by his wife Eve (Taylor) Williams, his two daughters Siobhaun (Greg Klassen) Williams, Ottawa; Tania (Andy) Peck, Sydney, Australia; and his son Dermot (Siobhan Ryan) Williams, Halifax, "Bumpy" will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Adelaide Klassen and Aidan Peck. David's education included Castle Park Prep School, Dalkey, Ireland, Rugby School, UK, his National Service in Germany, and he ended his formal education at Cambridge University, UK. In the UK, he worked for Fisons, Associated British Maltsters, The Milk Marketing Board and Dover Harbour Board. He emigrated with his young family in 1975 to work with Marine Atlantic and worked there until his retirement. He was passionate about gardening, ideas, music, nature, his family, the stock market and exploring new walking trails. Encouraged by the Town of Riverview, he created a colourful garden, mainly annuals, on the Riverfront, near the Superstore. For his voluntary efforts, in December 2002, he was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee medal for "beautifying his community". By request, no visitation at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place, and a brief memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Church on Saturday, September 6 at 11:00 a.m. Joan Mallett, Licensed Lay Preacher, will officiate the service. Friends are asked to consider donating to the Canadian Blood Services, P.O. Box 1259, Saint John, NB E2L 4G7 or the Canadian Red Cross, Atlantic Zone, P.O. Box 39, Stn Main, Saint John, NB E2L 9Z9. His family thanks all who give the gift of blood, as David received many blood products during his brave intense struggle. David was diagnosed only a few days before a planned trip to Ireland. He was sad that he would miss the beauty and the walks of County Sligo. Yet, we have the sure and certain knowledge, that after his ordeal, that now his spirit "shall have some peace there ... for peace comes dropping slow." Arrangements have been entrusted to Riverview Funeral Home (506) 857-9544.
