YOUNG, David Ronald Master Mariner July 10th, 1934 - November 25th, 2014 Born in Picton, Ontario. David was predeceased by his parents, David and Natalie Young and by his wife, Terry 2002 and his wife, Mavis Goodman in September 2014. David is survived by his sister, Marion Campbell of Picton, Ontario and various nephews and nieces. David's career began 1953 with the CN Express. After joining the Seaman's International Union David found the sea, which led to his many great achievements during his distinguished career. He attained his Master Mariners Certificate in 1967, was an instructor at George Brown and Niagara Colleges, earning his Ship's Pilot's License in 1971, piloting the St. Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes. He then became Commodore of the Fleet for Parrish and Heimbecker and worked in many seas and oceans abroad. After Terry's passing David moved to Victoria, B.C. David overcame many serious health issues and carried on with determination and his great positive outlook. He became a valued volunteer at the Maritime Museum which he loved and dedicated 10 years of service as Docent, fundraiser and proud representative. He enjoyed and appreciated all of his good friends of which there are many. In 2009 David and Mavis Goodman married and spent five happy and joyful years together until Mavis passed this year. Private arrangements for memorial and scattering of ashes has been planned, donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society, or charity of choice.
