O'KEEFE, David Allan May 14, 1951-January 18, 2008 It is with shattered hearts that we announce that David's struggle with cancer has come to an end. He was 56 years old. Son of Mary (Carroll) and the late Basil, David leaves to miss him his wife and best friend, Wendy (Geuer), children Jessica (Tim), Paul (Sarah), Thomas, and Matthew (Ginny). Also left to grieve are siblings Mike (Marian), Don (Brenda), Larry (Mary), Dan (Lisa) and Mary Anne (David); the Geuer family, uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many wonderful friends. David will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humour and his incredible courage and strength during his 6 1/2 year struggle to stay with us. He was never one to think it was his job to tell others how to live, but by example he taught us all about what mattered in life. Simple moments lived to the full. Many thanks to all who helped to care for David, especially Dr. Derek Jonker whose intelligence, experience and advocacy gave us a lot of extra time with David, and the "angel nurses" from CCAC and Bayshore Home Health, especially Tina, Kathleen, and Claire, who helped to ensure that the final steps of the journey rolled out as David wanted-at home and in Wendy's arms. Friends may call at the Almonte Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes 154 Elgin Street, Almonte on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9pm Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Church, Corkery on Wednesday at 11am. Interment in the Parish Cemetery.
