Knapp, 66, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Goodfield, Ill., died at 4:09 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers. He was born Aug. 20, 1948, in Peoria to George and Wilma (Klopfenstein) Knapp. He married Rebecca "Becky" Sours on Aug. 5, 1967, in Washington, Ill. Surviving are his wife, Becky Knapp of Fort Myers; two sons, Chris (Kathy) Knapp of Peoria, Ill., and Matt (Angie) Knapp of Goodfield; three grandchildren, Faith Knapp-Wienzierl (fianc&#233;, Brandon Adams) of East Peoria, Ill., Paige and Madison Knapp of Goodfield; one great-grandchild, Hunter Adams; his mother, Wilma Knapp of Eureka, Ill.; three brothers, Ken (Pam) Knapp of Eureka, Bruce (Kathleen) Knapp of Kansas City, Mo., and Mark (Patti) Knapp of Eureka; one sister, Barb Smith of Eureka; two brothers-in-law, Don (Dianna) Sours of North Fort Myers, Fla., and David (Nancy) Sours of Avondale, Ariz. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer; and his father. David worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 40 years until his retirement as a supervisor. He attended Fort Myers Apostolic Christian Church. He was active with the food pantry and delivered senior meals in Fort Myers. David was a loving husband, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed boating for many years and after retirement David and Becky traveled the country in their RV, finally settling in Fort Myers. He will be greatly missed for many reasons but especially for his love of life and humor. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Church, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Goodfield-Congerville Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Congerville, Ill. Memorials may be made to New Beginnings in care of Bill Masters, 4810 Marine Drive, Cape Coral, FL 33904.
