DORCHESTER ; David James Carter, 64, of Streeter Road died suddenly June 2, 2008, at Speare memorial Hospital in Plymouth.Born in Plymouth on Dec. 21, 1944, son of James and Betty M.(Salls) Carter, he attended Canaan Elementary School, Rumney Elementary and Plymouth High School. He has been a lifelong resident of the Dorchester area.He joined the U.S. Air Force, stationed in Texas, and had trained to be a fireman.Here in the Dorchester area, he has worked as a woodsman most all his life.He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a great uncle to his nephews, Jacob, Matthew, and Michael.He is survived by his sister, Barbara Dunbar, and husband Earl of Ludlow, Mass.; niece Wendy Landry and husband Ray of Palmer, Mass.; nephew Kevin Dunbar and wife Kelly of Westfield, Mass.; several cousins; and his longtime companion, Sherrie Goss of Dorchester.There will be a graveside service in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Rumney, on Tuesday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Edward J. Charest, pastor of the Plymouth United Methodist Church, will officiate.The Mayhew Funeral Home in Plymouth and Meredith is in charge of the arrangements.
