->PALM BAY, Fla. -- David George St. Onge, 42, died at Holmes Regional Hospital in Melbourne, on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, following a long battle with non-Hodgkins lymphona (cancer).David was born Aug. 27, 1963. His early school years were at Perkins School in Lancaster, Mass. While he attended a special education program and became a long-distance runner.In the summer, he was part of the school's camp program in Friendship, Maine. It was here that David overcame his fear of water and eventually became proficient enough to be certified in a life saving program and later as a scuba diver.It gave him great pride to be a high school graduate from Elan in Poland, Maine. Following his high school graduation, he attended Seaman's School in Baltimore. Most of his duty was on board LNG ships sailing the Far East. He moved up in rank and was studying for 3rd officer when he became seriously ill from cancer.He was survived by his wife, Arlene, and his two children, George, 11, and Todd, 7; his parents, George and Doris St. Onge, who spent time with him and his family during his final days; a younger brother, Robert, of Augusta, who was by his side through his final hours; and his older brother, Philip, of Winslow.The burial took place in Palm's Bay. A memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, at St. John's Catholic Church in Brunswick.
