David C. Boyd Jr., 66, of Lavallette, N.J., passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014, at home. The family will receive friends Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 995 Fischer Blvd., Toms River, N.J. A funeral service will be offered Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River. Born in Steubenville, Ohio, David lived in North Plainfield, N.J., and summered in Lavallette since 1977 before moving there permanently in 2004. David worked in sales for Allied Building Products in New Jersey for many years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam War veteran, serving in the 26th Marine Battalion G Company and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. David was very active in youth sports in North Plainfield, especially baseball and wrestling, served as past scout master of the Cub Scout Troop 235 and was an avid golfer and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (nee Morcom); two sons, Mark Boyd and his wife, Diane, of Sayreville, N.J., and Ryan Boyd of North Plainfield, N.J.; a sister, Lola Poveroma of Pennsylvania; a brother-in-law, James Morcom of Lavallette, N.J., and his nephews, many friends and extended family. David will always be remembered for his outgoing personality, his infectious laugh and his love of family.
