David Lee Atkinson David was born April 28, 1942 in Biggar, SK and passed away peacefully on July 22, 2006 in Vancouver, BC. He attended school in Bushville, Springwater and Biggar. He went on to the University of Saskatchewan and enrolled in commerce. At an early age, he demonstrated his passion for music, singing and playing many instruments. He shared his abilities with his family and friends. Politics and poetry also played an important role during his life. He loved telling jokes and making others laugh. He could take one as well as give back. He touched many people that knew him and his spirit will love on. He will be remembered by his daughters, Carla and Nicole Atkinson; granddaughters, Meagan and Lisa Varga; exwife of 29 years, Vera Atkinson; brothers and sisters, Roy (Bette), Lavone (Asbjorn) Stokke, Elsie Hill, Roberta (Earl) Storey, Blair (Phyl), Thora Harvey, Doris Curths; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his parents, Robert Roy and Elizabeth (Jamieson) Atkinson; grandmother, C.S. Jamieson; sisters, Margaret Storey and Louise Cox; brothers-in-law, Frank Storey, Earl Hill, Geoff Harvey and Fred Curths. At David's request, his ashes were spread on the hill at the family heritage farm during the 100th year celebration and dedication on July 29, 2006. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dr. Peter Centre, 1110 Comox St., Vancouver, BC, V6E 1K5, where David enjoyed the final years of his life.
