David J. Anderson 1940-2012 GRANBY - David J. Anderson, 71, of Granby, MA died suddenly Friday May 11, 2012 while at home working in his yard. He was the son of the late Lucille Huot and Sylvester P. Anderson, beloved husband of Yvonne M. Anderson, brother of Robert Anderson of Hatfield, MA and Carol Border of Holyoke, MA. He was predeceased by his sister Susan Anderson of Holyoke, MA. He was born August 18, 1940 in Holyoke, MA and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1958 where rumor had it he was one heck of a baseball player. After high school, he attended Holyoke Junior College. In 1961 he joined the Navy and was an Aviation Electronics Technician stationed at the Naval Air Station at Brunswick, Maine until his honorable discharge in 1966. He worked for the phone company as a lineman for thirty-six years until his retirement. He was the devoted father of Kelly J. Anderson of Ware, MA; David J. Anderson, Jr. of Huntington, MA; John R. St.George, Jr. of Granby, MA; Robert D. St.George of Easthampton, MA; and Robin S. St.George of Granby, MA. In addition to his children he leaves behind five grandchildren, Rhianna, Alyssa, Kayla, Brittan, Hunter, and three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Chloe, and Alexa. He was a wonderful husband, father, and friend who found his joy in life spending time with his family and friends. He loved the guitar and the Kingston Trio. He was an avid golfer and loved to garden. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. His inspiration and kindness brought -joy to the world for those of us who knew him. May the angels pick him up and guide him through his journey and shall the Lord take him in His arms as he is one of His, and may He bless him into His kingdom for eternity. The funeral for David will be held on Saturday morning at 9 am from the Ryder Funeral Home in South Hadley followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church with his burial in West Cemetery both in Granby.
