DAVIS, Darlene S., age 72, passed away peacefully at home sur-rounded by her loving family on Dec-ember 24, 2013. She was born in Arcadia, FL. on August 18, 1941. She graduated from Desoto County High School in 1959. Shortly after high school a mutual friend, Larry Whidden introduced Don to Darlene and that was it! The couple were married and moved to Zolfo Springs to take over Don's family's ranch and raise their family. Darlene was of the Presbyterian faith and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Avon Park, FL. Darlene was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She worked alongside Don every step of the way. She loved cattle with a passion, and also had a special place in her heart for the 4-H, which she was a leader of the Charlie Creek 4-H Club for 25 years. Darlene also played a very important role in the development of the Hardee County Cattleman's Arena in Wauchula and was a founding member of the Hardee County Cowbelles Association, helping however and wherever she could. She was survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Donald T. Davis of Zolfo Springs, FL., one son George A. (Sunni) Davis of Hobe Sound, FL., one daughter Betsy (Michael) Damboise of Zolfo Springs, and four grandchildren Loni Damboise, Kade Damboise, Sarah Davis and Sam Davis. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Darlene's life will be Monday, December 30, 2013 at 2:00pm at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Homes, 50 N. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia with Rev. Bob Johnson and Pastor Skipper Calder officiating. In lieu of flowers please send any donations & contributions to Good Shepard Hospice, Sebring ,Fl.
