EVANS, Ga. - Entered into rest Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Doctor's Hospital, Mr. Daniel Thomas Dransfield, III, 71, husband of Joan Dransfield. Mr. Dransfield was a native of NJ and had lived in Evans for the past year and a half. He was a retired Assistant Manager with Sunrise Shop Rite Supermarkets and a member of the Good Shepherd Chapel and the St. Michael's Parish Council at Ft. Gordon. He was a devoted husband, father, uncle and grandfather. "Pop" volunteered at the Good Samaritan Respite Center, umpired for the Columbia County Little League and was a part-time employee at the Kroger in Evans. Family members in addition to his wife include his sons: Mark Dransfield (Liz) of Bridgewater, NJ, Dan Dransfield (Treesh) of Hanson, MA; daughter: Maria Thompson (Jay) of Lawrence, KS; grandchildren: Katherine, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Nolan Thomas, Ava Joan, Lily Claire, Owen; Sister: Eva Willever and brother: Dennis Dransfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 7:30 P.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Fr. Dave Arnoldt, Fr. Richard Bendorf, Deacon George Foster and Deacon Dave Kriegel. A Mass will be held in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Butler, New Jersey on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 and the family will receive friends Monday, May 18, 2009 from 2:00 pm. until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Richards Funeral Home (973) 835-0164. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Respite Center, 2110 Broad St., Augusta, GA 30904.
