Daniel Kent Peters (Kent)Why we loved the old "Grand Master"June 26, 1963 to June 16, 2014It is with sincere sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Kent at Royal University Hospital on June 16, 2014 at the age of 50. Kent was born in Newmarket, ON and raised in Keswick, ON. He has also lived in Toronto, ON, Powell River, BC, Humboldt, SK, and most recently in Saskatoon, SK. Kent worked in the sales field for his entire life and was very well known and respected for great salesmanship. He was drawn to this field like a moth to light and his eyes lit up with confidence each time he described a sales success. Many of these proud moments were recognized with prestigious sales awards and he once occupied a place on the Board of the Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association. He took great pride in his position of media and public chairman for the 2002 Saskatchewan Winter Games in Humboldt, SK. Kent gave back to his communities through vigorous and challenging fund raising activities in Powell River, Regina, Humboldt with organizations such as the Shriners and his devotion and work with Freemason lodges, fraternal organizations that trace origins to the local fraternities of medieval stonemasons. Hence the title "Grand Master." Kent's large personality deserved a large title. Kent was a sports fanatic. He loved every single genre of sport from hockey to golf - even bowling! As long as there was competition involved, Kent was in on the action. Wendel Clark and The Toronto Maple Leafs were deeply embedded in his heart and he sported the team logo on his shoulder. Kent's Leafs jersey will be with him during his final break-away. This is true dedication. But, this dedication pales in comparison to the dedication and happiness he felt when spending time with his kids and grandchildren. Kent had a special place in his heart for all children. One of his best attributes was loyalty to his friends. Many of his friendships spanned decades and were lifelong. He was a loving husband, companion and partner who never turned down a hug. Highly intelligent, fun, perceptive, generous, hilarious, complex, boisterous, compassionate, loud and sometimes obnoxious – that was our Kent and that is why we loved him. Kent was a good man with a good heart. The tragic death of Kent's beloved brother, Scott, affected him more deeply than we can imagine. Kent is survived by his partner, Rhonda Heisler; ex-spouse, Leanne Doppler and their children Kyle and daughter Lyndsay (Tom Lommel); former spouse, Grace Peters; step- daughters, Nicole Nater (Dustin Cox), Jennifer Nater, Shana Kolosa (Andrew Kolosa); grandchildren, Mason, Dominique, Reese, Ty, Dawson and Paige; mother, Betty Huggins; and his sisters, Jackie Uprichard (George Carey), Charlene Strudwick (Alfy), Lorraine Restell and Christine Smith (Barrie). Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins will miss him dearly. Kent's lifelong friends, Randy Peugh, Alex Harkins; and his many workplace friends including, Sally, Jake and Nicole, Kevin, Paul, Charlie, Peter, Sharleen, Linda, Bob and many others will remember him fondly. Chico, the four legged, furry friend will certainly miss Kent. A post Cremation Celebration of Kent's Life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Park Funeral Chapel, 311 3rd Ave. N, Saskatoon, SK, S7K 2H9.
