Kelly, Daniel VALATIE Daniel "Dan" James Kelly, a retired assistant teacher and tour bus driver, died on September 7, 2014. He was active until the last weekend of his life, doing what he enjoyed and attending a Shriners convention in Virginia Beach. Dan was born in Newark, N.J. in 1942 to Anna Marie Kelly (Dewar) and Daniel James Kelly. He lived in New Jersey until 1986, when after meeting the Love of his Life, he moved to Valatie. He married Shirley Katherine Crossley on June 6, 1987. Dan was a mason for over 50 years. He was master of Valatie Lodge, monarch of the Kaa Rheu Vahn Grotto, commander in chief of the Valley of Albany, Scottish Rite; potentate of Cyprus Shriners in 2006; patron of the order of the Eastern Star (Eda Chapter). He is survived by his wife Shirley; his much-loved children, daughter Lynn Kline (Jeffrey), son, Barry Breckinridge (Denise), and his beloved grandchildren, Rebecca, Hannah, Daniel, Natalie, and Emma. He was greeted in the afterlife by his cherished daughter Mary Miller. The family will hold a gathering for friends at the McNary Center of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Kinderhook on Friday, September 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. The funeral will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Saturday, September 13 at 10 a.m., followed immediately by a reception to celebrate Dan's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wish List, Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
