KELLY Daniel Joseph, of Brick, NJ passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at Ocean Medical Center. He was 72. Mr. Kelly is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Geraldine Whipple Kelly; three sons, Daniel P. Kelly (Pamela), William G. Kelly and Timothy M. Kelly; and two sisters, Mary Therese Kelly Campbell (Lawrence) and Eileen Kelly. He was also the cherished "Grandpa" to Cecilia, Mary Grace, Dignan and Liam Kelly. Mr. Kelly was born in Teaneck, NJ and raised in Cliffside Park, where he attended catholic grade schools and Cliffside Park High School. He served a two year tour in Bamberg, Germany with the 2nd Armored Cavalry of the United States Army and worked for 40 years in the transportation industry. Mr. Kelly was actively involved in local government having been appointed to a one year term as the Mayor of Brick Township; as well as having served as the Chairman of the Brick Planning Board and a member of the Brick Historic Commission. He was also a long time member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, IAABO and Metedeconk River Yacht Club. A communicant of St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Mr. Kelly served as a Eucharistic Minister and as President of the St. Dominic's Sports League. Visiting hours are 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Friday, August 15, 2014, at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick, NJ. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at St. Dominic's Catholic Church in Brick, NJ, followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lakewood, NJ.
