Daniel James Stouffer Tompkins 1949-2015 Surrounded by his wife and children, Daniel James Stouffer Tompkins went peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 14th, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Stouffville, Ontario to the late James and Luella (Stouffer) Tompkins on December 18, 1949. Most important in Dan's life were his family and his unwavering faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Through the years, Dan and his family lived in Stouffville, ON, Cannington, ON, Geary, NB, and Upper Gagetown, NB. During his lifetime, he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic, a vending route operator, patient attendant and, after graduating from NBCC at the age of 60, a personal support worker. Dan found much satisfaction and purpose as an Addictions Attendant at Fredericton Addiction Services. Dan is survived by his wife, Charlene (Brown) Tompkins; children, Andrew (Alesha), Nicole and Bethany; grandchildren, Warren and Katie; and sister, Jeanne Tompkins of Melbourne, Australia. He was predeceased by his parents. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge Dr. Brian Reid, the physicians and staff of the oncology unit at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, the Oromocto Extra Mural nurses, and Dr. Gowan, Dr. Gillis-Doyle and Dr. B. Sainz. A very special thank you to Dr. Snell, the nurses and student nurses (under the direction of UNB Nursing instructor, Dawn Burke) of Med 1 at the Oromocto Public Hospital, who cared so compassionately during Dan's final days. Visitation will be held at the French Lake Baptist Church, 517 French Lake Road, French Lake, NB on Friday, May 22nd, 2015 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm.
