Daniel J. Nolan Hobart Daniel J. Nolan, age 88, of Hobart, passed away Monday, February 28, 2005. Preceded in death by his parents: Stephen and Winifred Nolan; brothers: Frank and Robert Nolan. Survived by daughter: Jean Ann (Richard) Gadzala of Munster; son: Tom Nolan of Portage; brothers: James (Betty) Nolan of Merrillville and Jack Nolan of Tucson, AZ; sister: Mary Moran of Valparaiso; great-grandson: Gavin. Mr. Nolan was a member of Mensa, American Civil Liberties Union, American Legion, the Art Institute of Chicago and Elder Hostel. He was a long-time subscriber to the Goodman Theater and the Court Theater, World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater as a Radar Specialist on the USS Nashville (the ship that transported Douglas MacArthur in his return to the Phillipines). He retired from U.S. Steel with 44 years of service. Member of USW 1014. Cremation was held. Rendina Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Private memorial services will be held in the Spring. At rest, Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
