Services for former township resident Daniel Glenn Stewart were held Sept. 24. Mr. Stewart, 92, died Sept. 22 in North Carolina. Mr. Stewart was actuarial consultant to the New York Shipping Association, and affiliated maritime companies, well into his 80's. In 1960, Mr. Stewart joined Peat Marwick & Mitchell in doing actuarial, insurance and employee benefit work. As a partner, he faced mandatory retirement age of 60. In 1978, Mr. Stewart formed Carriers Container Council, Inc., before joining Mutual Benefit life in 1984 as corporate finance officer. He received degrees from Howard (now Samford) University and Drake University. Mr. Stewart was a longtime member of the Rock Spring Club in West Orange. He also served as a naval aviator in the Pacific during World War II, and later as a U.S. Navy flight instructor. Mr. Stewart lived in the township for 51 years before moving to North Carolina four years ago. He survived by a son, Richard; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
