BUTLER, DANIEL - Entered into Heaven on December 20, 2008 at the age of 92, surrounded by his loving family at the Brantford General Hospital. Beloved husband of Mabel (nee Barnes) for 69 years. Precious Daddy of Brenda & Jerry Moore (Palmetto, Florida), Beverley (Ohsweken), Lucille (Phoenix, Arizona), Wayne (Fudd), (Ohsweken), Linda (Phoenix, Arizona) and Darlene & Roger Martin (Ohsweken), Tracy. Father in law to Laura Butler & Jenny Henry. Special Grampa to Kristy, Lisa, Booky and Jenna. He was a grampa to 25 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Uncle, great uncle and great great uncle to many, many nieces and nephews. Friend to many. Predeceased by an infant son, an infant daughter, Alice Lucille (age 7 months), son Sam (Nov 1974), 3 grandsons; Donald (Nov 1987), Shane Samuel Neufeld (March 1987), Jordan (Nov 2005) and a great grandson Ryan (Punky - Oct 2007). Also predeceased by his parents Kate Clause and Samuel Butler. Dan was the last surviving member of his siblings; Elsie Lickers-Westbrook, Norman Garlow, Angus Butler, Clarence Butler, Lucinda (Styres) McNaughton, and Frances Garlow. Dan was the retired Pastor of the Six Nations Pentecostal Church after serving the Six Nations community and many other communities for many many years. Many times he left his home to attend to a call whenever anybody asked for help, whether it be someone in the hospital, aged people in the nursing homes, shut-ins or someone wanting prayers. He was the first ordained minister on the Six Nations Reserve. Dan also worked full time as a carpenter in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union, Cambridge local 785 for many years. holding positions on various jobs as Superintendent, Foreman, Union Stewart and was instrumental in helping many young Native men obtain membership in the Carpenters Union. He worked on such jobs locally as the Brantford City Hall, Cockshutt Bridge, John Noble Home, Newport bridge, Brantford General Hospital and the Holiday Inn. The last job he worked on locally was the Brantford Sewer Plant. He worked on the power plant and various other construction jobs in and around Niagara Falls, New York. He also worked as a Carpenter in the union in Calgary, Alberta. After retiring from his carpenter job, Dan was a member of the Mohawk Singers, enjoyed volunteering at Iroquois Lodge and spending time traveling with good friends Ken & Evelyn Young. He also spent many years traveling to various other reserves and communities in his younger years meeting and ministering to new people. He will be truly missed by all!. Resting at the STYRES FUNERAL HOME, Ohsweken after 7pm Sunday. Funeral Service & Burial at the Six Nations Pentecostal Church on Tuesday at 1pm. Visitation on Monday after 10am, Evening prayers 7pm Monday. 11363224
