DALE E. SMITH Hampton, NH - Dale E. Smith, 70, of Hampton, died peacefully Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Exeter Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born April 11, 1944 in Washington, DC a daughter of the late Victor J. and Vernona (Heck) Wallace. Raised in North Haverhill, she graduated from Haverhill Academy with the Class of 1962. Following high school she enrolled at the University of New Hampshire where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in 1966. Dale worked as a teacher for 10 years, before starting her career at Liberty Mutual as an Information Technology Specialist. She retired From Liberty Mutual in 2004 after 23 years. She met her future husband of 25 years and love of her life Paul DeGrass at a neighbor's house after being "introduced" by her horse Rascal. Together they spent their winters in Florida and loved to travel in there motorhome all over the United States and the Maritime Provinces of Canada. She enjoyed playing cards as well as gardening and was known for her meticulous gardens around her home. She was very devoted to her many friends in both New Hampshire and Florida. In addition to her husband, family member include her stepsons, Jeffrey of Derry, Christopher and his wife Gail of Cibolo, TX, David and his wife Kristen of Auburn; sisters, Vernona S. Bell and her husband Harold of White River Junction, VT, Lynda C. Wallace and her husband James Connery of Duluth, GA; 7 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. At Dale's request all services will be private.
