->NEW SHARON -- Dale Alan Varney, 54, of New Sharon, died late Saturday afternoon, May 27, 2006, at his home in New Sharon.He was born Jan. 15, 1952, a son of Donald and Flora (Wells) Varney. He received his education in local schools and was a 1970 graduate of Mt. Blue High School. He worked for 13 years at Maine Dowel and then worked at International Paper Co. in Jay from 1984 to 2006.Mr. Varney loved life and nature and celebrated it by fishing hunting, farming, and trapping in all seasons. He particularly enjoyed riding his Harley with his longtime friends. He was a hard worker and took immense pride in all of his accomplishments throughout his life. He was especially proud of his membership in Local 14. He will be dearly missed by all of those who were fortunate enough to have been blessed by his presence in their lives. He is survived by his wife as of Oct. 15, 2002, and longtime companion of 21 years, Theresa Martin of New Sharon; his mother, Flora Wells Varney; sister, Dawn Varney Kelley and her husband, Milton (Ray), of Chesterville; three nieces, Megan Iannuzzi and Aaron Kelley, both of Farmington, and Devon Kelley of Industry; a daughter, Elizabeth Varney Gagne and her husband, Samual, of Poland; six stepchildren, Darlene Dyke and partner Michael Bowdin of Topsham, Deanna Gaboury of Vienna, Linwood Gaboury and wife Stephanie of Industry, Bobbi Thompson and husband Mark of Chelsea, Lewis Gaboury and wife Melanie of Farmington, and Rick Gaboury and wife Tina of New Sharon; two maternal grandchildren, Kayleigh and Colby Gagne; and lots and lots of step grandchildren. He was predeceased by his father and a son, Mark Alan Varney.The family would like to express their deepest thanks and appreciation to the people of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, the people of the Oncology Department at Franklin Memorial Hospital as well as the nurses on staff. A very special thank you goes out to his hospice nurse Marie; you helped more than you will ever know. Public memorial services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Wiles Funeral Home, Cremation Service, and Remembrance Center, 137 Farmington Falls Road, Farmington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, 75 Allen St., Wilton, ME 04294.
