Dorothy Marie (Schmidt) Peters1925 - 2013Dorothy Marie (Schmidt) Peters passed away June 9 in St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. Dorothy was born at Drake, Saskatchewan on July 11, 1925 to Peter M. and Annie Schmidt. She received her elementary education at Kansas School near Drake and graduated from high school at Rosthern Junior College. Attended Normal School in Saskatoon and taught at Waterloo School near Guernsey and Bloomfield School near Drake. Dorothy went to Winnipeg to study at Canada Mennonite Bible College where she met her husband Paul Peters. They were married May 31, 1952. They moved to Steinbach in 1961 where Paul built a thriving medical practice, while Dorothy cared for their family and used her considerable musical gifts to serve the church and community. In 2006 Dorothy was diagnosed with kidney failure and had dialysis three times a week for six and half years. Dorothy is survived by her husband Dr. Paul Peters, four children, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by her sister Viola Schmidt and brother-in-law Art Wiens of Saskatoon. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, brother Earl and sister Leila Wiens.
