Dorothy "Brydie" Evans, age 91, of Main Street, Coventry, RI, a retired bookkeeper, died Friday, December 2, 2005 at Riverview Nursing Home, Coventry. She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert Evans Sr. Born in Beaver Falls, PA, she was a daughter of the late Albert J. and Mary E. (Kelly) Brydebell. She worked for the State of New York at Letchworth Village, Stony Point, NY for over 22 years before retiring in 1973. Since 1957 she was a member of Stony Point Chapter #540, Order of the Eastern Star in Haverstraw, NY where she served as Worthy Matron in 1966. In 1973 she was appointed District Deputy Grand Matron of the Orange-Rockland District, Order of the Eastern Star for the State of New York. At the October 1974 Grand Chapter Session of the Order of the Eastern Star for the State of New York she was elected for a two-year term as Commissioner of Appeals of the Grand Chapter. For many years she belonged to the Garnerville (NY) United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, served on the Official Board of the Church and was Treasurer of the Church Building Fund. She is survived by her daughter, Brydie Jo Baker and her husband Rex of Warwick, RI; her son, Herbert Evans Jr. and his wife Patricia of Blue Ridge, GA; her sister, Margaret Carnelly of Wauwatosa, WI and her two grandsons, Evan Evans of Boca Raton, FL and US Army Lt. Patrick B. Evans of Tumwater, WA. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at 2:00 PM at the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick, RI.
