LEE, DORIS REGINA GRIFFINDoris Regina Griffin Lee, of Eastchester, NY, died on Wednesday, January 26, 2005. Doris was born in Lanesboro, MA on April 24, 1912 to William Timothy Griffin and Marietta Walsh. A graduate of St. Luke's Nursing School, Doris enlisted in the Army at the outbreak of World War II and served as an Army Nurse on various islands in the Pacific. Upon returning state side at the end of the war, she went to work as a nurse in the Veteran's Administration, where she remained until retiring from the hospital in Newington, CT in 1969. Doris married James Lee of Eastchester in 1973. She is survived by her four stepchildren: Margaret Austin of Houston; Patricia Renz of White Plains; James Lee, Jr. of London and Ruth Leaycraft of Charlotte as well as her nephew, William McDermott of White Plains; Timothy McDermott of Boston; Nancy Carson of Ithica and Eric Carson of Yarmouth. She was extremely proud of her eight grandchildren and five grandnieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Jim; her brother, Carl; sisters: Evelyn McDermott and Katherine Carson Pieper. The family will receive friends at the McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home in White Plains on Friday evening from 7-9 pm only. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 am at Immaculate Heart of Mary R.C. Church in Scarsdale.
