MORRISON, DAVID JAMES of Vestavia Hills, followed his mother to be reunited with family members enjoying their rest, on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at the age of 59. David was born December 24, 1952 in Birmingham, Alabama. In addition to being the son of Annie Greenway, who raised him with Godly spiritual values, David was also blessed with the nurturing upbringing of Annie's sister, his Aunt "BB." Having lost his father when he was young, David displayed early on a propensity for loving and responsible provision for his mother, aunt, and sister. David grew up in the East Lake area and attended Banks High School. He was employed by South Central Bell for a number of years, where his entrepreneurial spirit emerged, culminating in the creation of a successful family business. He was a free-spirited, brilliant, personable, charismatic, and resourceful man. David was a beacon in the community and a mentor to many. He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Greenway; his father, James Morrison; step-father, Howard Greenway; sister, Bobbie Lacey; and his beloved aunt, Berniece Bamberg. He is survived by his children, Matthew Wade Morrison, Michael Brett Morrison, and Adrianne Lee Morrison; devoted companion, Molly Bennett; grandson, James Wyatt Roberts; and countless friends among the locals of Homewood and surrounding communities. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM, Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Ridouts Valley Chapel in Homewood. A funeral service will follow in the chapel at 3 PM, Rev. Calvin Crocker officiating. Not open for regular business, Dave's Pizza will be receiving friends and patrons of the restaurant for a celebration of Dave's life following the services. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to The Foundry in Bessemer.
