Cornelia Elizabeth Jones Cornelia Elizabeth Jones, 85, of Tallahassee, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2006. Burial will be in the family plot at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville, Ga. Allen & Allen Funeral Home (229-226-6331) is handling arrangements. Visitors may sign the online guest register at www.allenfh.com.A native of Thomasville, Miss Jones had lived in Tallahassee since 1994. She was an elementary-school librarian in Ridgewood, N.J., for most of her career and lived in Martinsville, Maine, after her retirement in 1983. Cornelia was a graduate of Maryville College in Tennessee and received her degree in library science from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.She served in the Red Cross during World War II. She started her career as a librarian in the New York City Public Library system in the early 1950s. She continued her career in Ridgewood and traveled extensively in the United States and Europe throughout her lifetime. She took a sabbatical year, between 1974 and 1975, touring the British Isles interviewing children's book authors.These interviews produced the background material for a book titled "British Children's Authors: Interviews at Home," co-authored by Miss Jones and Olivia Way, published by the American Library Association in 1976. Upon her retirement, the Ridgewood School District honored Cornelia by naming an elementary school library after her. Following her career in the Ridgewood Public Schools, she designed and built a retirement home in Martinsville, on the coast of Maine, where she lived for 15 years before moving to Tallahassee.Miss Jones is survived by her sister, Ruth J. Schwellenbach of Tallahassee; two nephews, H. John Schwellenbach of Santa Monica, Calif., and James C. Schwellenbach Esq. of Portland, Maine; two nieces, Susan T. Hindlemann of Denver, Colo., and Nancy S. LeRoy of Chateauneuf le Rouge, France; three grandnephews; three grandnieces; and a great-grandniece.She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Horace Jones Sr. and Jamie Cheek Jones, and her brother Charles Horace Jones Jr.
