WALKER, Corinne Nina (nee Fatt) June 2, 1931 - January 29, 2014 It is with profound sadness that we announce that Corinne passed away peacefully at Nanaimo Travellers Lodge, following a prolonged journey through dementia, with her children Heather and Bruce at her side. Corinne was predeceased by her daughter Alison and is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband Ron, her sister Marina (George) Emmond, her children Margot, Ted (Heather), Mark (Ladan), David (Sunita), Heather (Phil) Rocca, Bruce (Nydia), and grandchildren Andrew, Patrick, Nima, Mahsa, Aislinn, Talia, Maia, Christopher and Mia, her niece Joy (George), and nephews Paul (Andrea), Grant (Sheri), and Scott (Faye). Corinne was born in Victoria and attended school there prior to enrolling in the registered nurses' training program at Royal Jubilee Hospital. Following her graduation with the class of September '52, she practised nursing in Victoria and Toronto until her marriage in 1956. After her marriage to Ron, she continued her nursing career, melding that with her awesome role as a mother of seven. Corinne was an active community volunteer. She spent many years as a Lioness, first with Saskatoon Nutana Lioness Club and later with Nanaimo Harbor Lites Lioness Club. She was also an ardent long term volunteer with the Kidney Foundation of Canada. Her family extends its deep appreciation to the absolutely wonderful staff at Travellers Lodge for their loving care throughout her stay there, and to Dr. Robin Love for his care and guidance over the years. A celebration of her life will be held at St John the Divine Anglican Church, Victoria at 11:00am on Monday, February 3rd, 2014 with a reception to follow.
