She was born to Mitchell Andrew Brentlinger and Ara Melena Brown of Okalona, Kentucky, a suburb of Louisville, October 20, 1933.Corky met and married Donald Ray Jordan in Nashville, TN. They met while Don was attending Officer Candidate School in the U.S. Army at Ft. Knox, KY. They were united in holy matrimony on November 8, 1952 and would have celebrated 53 years of marriage this November. Her loving family members include 4 children, Donna Lee (John) Murphy of Atlanta, Stephen Brent Jordan of Neptune Beach, James Lowery (Kathy) Jordan and Timothy Ray Jordan both of Jacksonville; 10 grandchildren of which she was very proud, John Hope (Tasha) Murphy, III, DanielMurphy and Jordan Lee Murphy all of Atlanta, Matthew Ray Jordan (a special child who was dear and close to Corky's heart), Anne Marie Rose Jordan, Michael Jordan, Garrett Jordan, Tyler Jordan, Laura Renee Jordan and Austin Palmer Jordan all of Jacksonville; 1 great grandson, John Hope Murphy, IV, who was born October 6th in Atlanta, that Corky had not yet been able to see and hold but whom she loved in her heart as she did all of them; 2 former daughters-in-law, Beth Ann Jordan and Lisa Godsey, both of Jacksonville, are still close family friends and provided loving care and support during her illness; an older brother, Thomas Brentlinger, of Oceanside, CA; a younger brother and sister, Byron Brentlinger of Lexington, KY, and Mary Lou Geary of Jacksonville and several nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces. Corky spent the first 25 years of her married life as a devoted Army wife. After their retirement from the Army, she and Don became members of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Neptune Beach where she served and worshiped for 30 years. She loved her church and enjoyed being a faithful servant of God in His house. She was an ordained Elder of the church and had been employed at one time for about 15 years as church secretary. In addition she was a member of the Florida Crown Emmaus Community having made her walk in April 1998. Corky had suffered from stomach cancer since late in 2004. The battle was a tough one but one that never caused her faith in God to falter or dim. She had maintained a totally positive attitude in her fight to beat the sickness but in the end her body just gave up. She passed peacefully in her sleep on the evening of October 20th. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 24th in the Chapel of Quinn-Shalz, A Family Funeral Home.
