BANGOR - Constance "Connie" (Campbell) Collins, 88, died Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, at a Brewer health care facility. She was born May 27, 1923, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Philip and Grace (Bushee) Campbell. Connie grew up in Madison, Wis., where she attended Randall School and West High School. At age 7 she was the cellist member of the senior orchestra at the high school. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin, where she taught tennis and was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority. Since moving to Bangor she was president of Eastern Maine Medical Auxiliary, Symphony Women, Community Concerts, Current Events Club and was a member of the Shakespeare Club. She was a cellist with Bangor Symphony Orchestra and Harold Doe Orchestra, which played at various health care venues. Connie was a private cello teacher and a member of Jon Dawson's realty firm. She was an avid hockey fan and attended most of the University of Maine Black Bear games with her son, Tom and his wife, Jodi. She was a direct descendant of Stephen Foster, who came to America on the Mayflower, Jeremiah O'Brien and Gen. Alexander Campbell, who participated in the first naval battle of the American Revolution. In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by her husband, Robert Collins. She is survived by her sons, Philip and his wife, Lana Sensenig, David Jr. and his wife, Nancy Sensenig, the Rev. Andrew Sensenig and Thomas Steele and his wife, Jodi; grandchildren, Philip Jr., Laura, Mark, and Rachael; and sister, Hope C. Pankey. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John Roman Catholic Church, York Street, Bangor.
