Davis served in the United States Air Force for 32 years. He flew many missions in defense of his country during WWII and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.Col. Davis was a decorated fighter pilot and wing commander with many honors including the Distinguished Flying Cross. Upon retirement Colonel and Mrs. Davis settled in Rockledge, Florida, later moving to Tallahassee where they resided at Westminster Oaks Retirement Community. Col. Davis is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret V. Davis of Tallahassee, three daughters: Jo Marie Olk (Tom)with granddaughters Katie Cowart (Jordan) and Libby Olk of Tallahassee; Joan Gesch (Wolf) of Auburn, Alabama with grandson Captain Christopher Gesch, USAF (Jennifer) and great grandsons Gehrig and Colin of Clovis, New Mexico and granddaughter Kelly Gross (Gabe) and great-grandchildren Allie and Jake Gross of Auburn, Alabama; Peggy Warren(Joe) and grandsons Travis(Rebecca), Tyler (Luanne) and Ross Warren of Greenville, NC. Colonel Davis will be laid to rest with full military honors in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
