BIRMINGHAM - COL Weeks was a World War II Veteran of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). Weeks and one other officer, Lieutenant Paul Swank, led OSS Operation Group Peg with 12 enlisted men parachuting behind German lines near Le Clat France. Operation Group Peg resulted in the liberation of Le Clat, Axat, Quillan, Alet Le Bahn, Couisa, Limoux and Carcassonne. He was recalled for the Korea Conflict where as a Captain he served as an Infantry Company Commander in the 3rd Infantry Division and later in the 40th Infantry Division. He was serving in the G3 operations staff of 9th Corp HQs at the conclusion of the war. He received his BA and MA degrees from the University of Alabama. He taught school at a number of location throughout the St. Clair County system. COL Weeks served in the US Army Reserve until 1974 when he retired as the Commanding Officer of the 405th Civil Affairs Group in Anniston. He is survived by his wife, Martha Scott Weeks; three sons, Swank, Scott and Shelton Weeks; his six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ann West and Mary Wells. Services will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Pell City. Viewing will be from 1-1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Valley Hill Cemetery.
