Claudia Mae Smith, 67, Bradenton and formerly of Parrish, died Nov. 24, 2005. She was born Aug. 21, 1938, in Parrish and was a lifelong resident of Manatee County. She was a housekeeper. She was a member of New Hope Holiness Deliverance Ministries. Survivors include her husband, John Edward of Bradenton; daughters Selestine Sams and Gwendolyn Mitchell, both of Bradenton, Sonya McDuffie Simmons of Decatur, Ga., and Cynthia Carter Frost of College Park, Ga.; sons Kenneth L. Carter and Michael R. Carter, both of Bradenton; a sister, Carrie Fredrick of Bradenton; and brothers Bishop Otis Johnson of Palmetto and Henry L. Jackson of Sarasota. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Westside Funeral Home, Palmetto. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Hope Holiness Deliverance Ministries, Palmetto. Burial will be in Skyway Memorial Gardens.
