Claude Peterson passed from this life on May 12, 2009, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, at the age of 83. He was the son of the late Melvin and Cassie (Arbeau) Peterson of Upper Blackville and he worked as a guide. Claude is survived by his wife of 63 years, Patricia, and by five sons Clifton (Louise) of Blissfield, Tony (Donalda) of Blackville, Brian (Wanda) of Doaktown, Peter (Irene) of White Rapids, and Winslow (Colleen) of Blackville; four sisters Alma of Blackville, Phyllis of Upper Blackville, Laura of Fredericton, and Leta (Claude) of Blissfield. He was well loved by his 14 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, and two brothers Merle and Hinson. The family received relatives and friends at the New Life United Pentecostal Church, in Blackville, on Thursday, May 14, 2009, from 7 to 9, and on Friday, May 15, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service was held on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at 2 pm, from New Life United Pentecostal Church with Pastor John McNair officiating. Organist Colleen McLaughlin led the congregation in the singing of the hymns "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "When the Redeemed Are Gathering In". The eulogy and prayer were given by Reverend Weldon LaKing followed by a song by Erdie and Julie Price. Kristen Peterson read a poem that she had written entitled "My Grampy, My Hero, My Friend". Great Granddaughters Prayer was read by Jessica Farrer and New Life Trio also sang a song. Active pallbearers were Jamie Peterson, Perry Peterson, Trevor Peterson, Bobby Peterson, Joshua Peterson, and Troy Peterson. Honorary pallbearers were Emery Arbeau, Lewis Arbeau, Clyde Arbeau, Eric Arbeau, Marshall Arbeau, Harold Astle, and Tom Sturgeon. Burial took place following the funeral in the New Life United Pentecostal Church Cemetery.
