PIEDMONT — Funeral services for Mr. Clark Wayne Davis, 71, will be today at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Piedmont with Dr. Harris Hand, the Rev. Gary Black and The Rev. Kenneth Boles officiating and Thompson Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at Piedmont Memory Gardens. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to services. Mr. Davis died Thursday, October 2, 2008, at his home. He is survived by one son, Barry (Melody) Davis, of Anniston; wife, Carol Davis and her children, Jim (Julie) Long, of California, David (Katie) Long, of Virginia and Randy Long, of Madison; 11 grandchildren, Amanda (Tyson) Kisor, Bree (Michael) Kirby, Logan Davis, James Long, Jeremy Long, Jonathan Long, Jillian Long, Joshua Long, Ben Long, Jack Speer and Decker Speer; one great-grandchild, Olivia Kirby; one sister, Bonnie Davis, of Piedmont; several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Boles, Don Johnson, Homer Voiles, Sonny Ray, Ricky Davis, Mike Davis, Jimmie Grimes and Frank Cochran. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Boles, Billy White, Michael Stafford, Mike Holbrook, Greg Donaldson, David King, Paul Young, Larry Moran, David Long, Jim Long, Randy Long and the "Breakfast Birds". Mr. Davis was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Piedmont. He retired from Goodyear with 31 years of service. His love for car's began in the 50s leading him to competing in and winning many local and NHRA drag races. After several years of racing, he turned to collecting and restoring cars with his son, Barry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Harold Davis; his late wife, Bette Davis; and a son, Keithe Davis.
