Clarissa Clara Mills, 87, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at the Care Center of Red Bay. She was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Itawamba County, Miss., to Stephen Laton and Tyrena Mayhall Chesnutt. She attended the Church of God. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2009, at Deaton Funeral Home chapel, Red Bay, Ala., with Brother Robert Wood officiating. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery, Golden, Miss. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., will be in charge of arrangements. Survivors are one daughter, Clara Delores Daily (Keith), Red Bay, Ala.; one grandson, Dr. Josiah Daily (Shannon), Cullman, Ala.; one great-grandson, Josiah Carter Daily; special daughter-in-law, Fleta Mills Swinney (Samuel), Red Bay, Ala.; three stepdaughters, Inez Prestage, Madison, Ala., Jeanette Orrick, Red Bay, Ala., Mary Boozer (F.B.) Smithville, Miss.; one stepson, W.T. Mills (Bobbie Sue), Zion, Ill.; one niece, Jonie, and three nephews, Danny, Steve and Kelly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Mills; a granddaughter, Clarissa Hope Daily; two stepsons, Herbert Mills and Morris Mills; a stepdaughter, Minnie Gillette; and two brothers, Sherman Chesnutt (Susie) and John K. Chesnutt. Pallbearers will be Chuck Mills, Danny Chesnutt, Steve Chesnutt, Michael Brown, Bud Strickland and Bill Brown. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday, April 30, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Ala., and until service time Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Daily Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of Community Spirit Bank, Red Bay, Ala.
