BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Clara M. Van were held at The Green Mountain Christian Center on Friday, June 11. Officiating was the Rev. John Goyette, pastor. Music for the service was provided by pianist Cheryl Letourneau, who accompanied the congregation in singing “Mansion Over the Hilltop,” “Amazing Grace” and “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” Personal reflections and memories of Mrs. Van were shared by many in attendance, including Pastor Robert Lebert of the Harvest Christian Ministries. A reception followed in the church hall hosted by members of the church. Burial took place in the Van family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery on Saturday morning with Pastor Goyette offering the committal prayers. Mrs. Van, 88, a longtime resident of Pageant Street, died June 9, 2004 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center; for the past few years she had resided at River’s Edge Community Care Home on Hunt Street.Arrangements were under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington.
