WILLIAMS Clara Elizabeth (Robinson), was born in Oradell, New Jersey on October 18, 1905, to the late Henry and Rebecca Robinson. She attended the public schools in Oradell, New Jersey and graduated from Hackensack High School, in Hackensack, New Jersey. She was a lifelong resident of Bergen County and lived in Hackensack since 1945. Her civic and social activities have been numerous over the years and through her residency at Hackensack Wellington Hall, a Care One facility, where she enjoyed her One-Hundredth birthday celebration, which included appearing on "Eye-witness News" Channel Seven Television with Anthony Johnson, newsman. Her leisure time was devoted to reading, painting and cooking.Clara was baptized at Mount Olive Baptist Church at the age of twelve by the late Reverend J.P.E. Love. She was an active member of the Sunday school, Baptist Youth Ministry, Sunshine Club, White Rose, Willing Workers and various other auxiliaries for many years until her health limited her attendance. She continued to take First Sunday Communion in her home. In addition, she took pride in welcoming missionaries and friends in her residence. In 2001, on the occasion of the one-hundred and twelfth anniversary of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Clara accepted a plaque on behalf of The Robinson Family, for the oldest family unit in the congregation. Clara's mother was baptized at Mount Olive in 1899 and this year, 2010, marks the one-hundredth and eleven year of service by The Robinson family in Mount Olive. Clara was married to Joseph Fletcher Copeland until 1943. In February 1944, she married Frank Lee Williams who departed this life in 1968. She completed nursing school and worked as a nurse with a number of hospitals including Bergen Pines Hospital (Bergen Regional Medical Center) and Hackensack Hospital (Hackensack University Medical Center). During the mid-point of her nursing career she was hired by several of Hackensack's wealthier residence to care for their families at home and when they traveled abroad. In later years, Clara worked as the supervising floor nurse at Valley Nursing Home and as a private duty nurse in homes, hospitals and nursing facilities. Clara lived through many military encounters including WWI and WWII. During WWII she was called to work on an assembly line in munitions plants in South Hackensack or Teterboro.Clara is predeceased by her brothers John H. Robinson, George Robinson, Garfield Richardson and a sister Rose Robinson Pinnock. She leaves to mourn her passing: a beloved niece Sandra Ann Robinson, of Hackensack, New Jersey; a stepson Richard Williams, wife Sara and daughters Paula and Sonja of New Castle, Delaware; cousins: Jessie Bland Martin, Detective Kenneth Martin, Douglas Martin, Douglas Martin, Jr. MMI/United States Navy, Michael Martin, Lawrence Martin, Taylor Martin, Karen Martin, Arthur Lassiter, Zoe Lassiter, Beatrice, Joe-Joe Adams and Karen Lathen Sabur, all of Hackensack, New Jersey; and a host of other cousins and friends. Funeral Services Friday July 9, 6:30 PM at Mount Olive Baptist Church 260 Central Avenue Hackensack. Visitation 5:30-6:30 PM Friday at the church. Interment Westwood Cemetery Westwood. Memorials in Clara Robinson Williams name may be made to: Community Blood Services 800 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell, NJ 07649 (or) Logan Family Life Center 274 Central Avenue, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
