Clara C. Smith, age 45, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Saturday, July 12, 2008. She was born Aug. 3, 1962, in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and was a lifelong resident of Okaloosa County. She worked with Shoal Creek Rehab where she was a caregiver and liaison for her patients. She was active with the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club and worked to preserve downtown Crestview. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Chet Smith and Kenny Howard; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. C.D. Smitherman, and her father, William D. Smith. Survivors include three children, Stephen Showers, Colin Smith and Heather Tatro; a brother, Drew Howard of Mobile, Ala.; four sisters, Sarah Aycock of Laurel Hill, Fla., Fran Pickens of Crestview, Fla., Jody Tatro of Destin, Fla., and Shirley Holmes of DeFuniak Springs, Fla.; a granddaughter; and 13 nieces and nephews, along with a host of great-nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 15, in the chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Brother Adam Holmes officiating. Green plants will be appreciated. Brackney Funeral Service, Crestview, is in charge of arrangements.
