NEW BEDFORD -- Claire I. (Dupont) Horvitz, 74, of South Dartmouth died Saturday, March 19, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. She was the wife of Harris A. Horvitz; they were married 36 years. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Irenee and Mariah (Boulay) Dupont, she resided in Dartmouth for nearly 10 years. Mrs. Horvitz was a stay-at-home mom who loved to cook, crochet, bowl and, most of all, spend time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Mariah. Survivors include her widower; a daughter, Jane M. Horvitz of South Dartmouth; a son, Paul R. Horvitz, and his fiancee, Lea Garcia, of New Bedford; a granddaughter; a brother, Alfred Dupont of Bellview, Wash.; three sisters, Flore Arruda of Plymouth, and Lillian St. Jean and Pauline Alves, both of Acushnet; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Gerard Dupont. Her funeral will be at 8 a.m. Tuesday from Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth, followed by a funeral Mass at 9 in St. Mary's Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
