Claire Cécile Arnal (née Désilets), aged 67, of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away on September 11, 2012. She was born to Aimé ‘Jim’ and Salomé ‘Sally’ Désilets (née Carrière) on February 23, 1945 in Victoria, British Columbia. She spent her formative years in Powerview, Manitoba until 1964 when she married Richard (Dick) Arnal and moved to Fannystelle where they lived and worked on a farm and raised their family. Claire is survived by her husband Richard, children Julie-Anne Arnal, Jérôme Arnal and Joëlle (Mark) Adams, grandchildren Lauren and Sophia Adams, brother Jérôme Désilets, sister Laurette Désilets (Kim Trethart), aunt Cécile Towler and aunt Ida and uncle Paul Désilets. She also leaves behind a wonderful and loving group of friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, very recently, her sister Danielle Désilets and her parents-in-law, Almir and Bertha Arnal. Claire embraced rural life and spent 46 years on the family farm. She never stopped moving, working or flourishing. People were drawn to her. She was artistically talented and creative with the most mundane tasks. She was gracious, always hospitable, quick-witted and will be remembered best as a compassionate, wise and true friend. Claire leaves a huge void in the lives of all she touched. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001. This in no way defined her. We miss her dearly. We would like to extend special thanks for the devoted care and support provided by the staff and volunteers of Victoria General Hospital Cancer Center, St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Riverview Health Center, 3E. A funeral service and celebration of Claire’s life will be held on Saturday, September 15 at Sacred Heart Church in Fannystelle, Manitoba at 10:00 AM with Father Armand Le Gal officiating and Father Lawrence Agorchukwu. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Dear Mom, Please know that when we’re hungry before dinner we’ll have an apple and when we’re bored, we’ll go outside and throw a ball around. Love, your children Adam’s Funeral Home of Notre Dame, Manitoba in care of arrangements. Phone 248-2201 or 1-888-400-2326. www.afh.ca
