BAY AREA, Ga. - Cherry Donna Burnsed Smith, age 73, died Friday, January 2, 2015, at Ogeechee Area Hospice. Mrs. Smith was a native of Bulloch County, a homemaker and a member of Lawrence Baptist Church. She was a substitute teacher for several years and was poll manager at the Bay District voting precinct for 28 years. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and her cats, but most of all, she loved her family. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Robert Smith of Bay Area; son Terry Smith of Bay Area; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Doug DeLoach of Bay Area; sisters Joyce Smith and LaWanda Dickerson; grandchildren Betsy Mallard and Lacey Collins; and great-grandchildren Brady and Lilly Mallard and Ella and Cail Collins. Visitation will be 5–8 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2015, in the chapel of Flanders Morrison Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Red Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Smith's nephews will serve as pallbearers.
