Charlotte Young Williams, 56, Florence, passed away at her home Sunday morning after a long, valiant battle with cancer.She had been employed at Listerhill Credit Union from 1974 to 2002, serving as president/CEO from 1994 to 2002. She had used the last three years of her life to enjoy very special time with her children and grandchildren. During her years at the credit union, she had served as a board member of the Alabama Credit Union Administration and the Alabama Credit Union League, and as president of the Muscle Shoals Chapter of Credit Unions.She was very involved in the community and had served on the foundation board of Shoals Community College; member, Florence/Lauderdale Tourism Board; member, President's Cabinet, University of North Alabama; chair, advisory committee, UNA President's Cabinet; co-chair, Coby Hall Decorators Show House; Festival of Trees Committee, UNA; member, Shoals Chamber of Commerce; and board member, American Cancer Society.She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Young Bellamy; father, Maxson Roscoe Young; husband, Albert Elvis Williams; and special friend, George Milstead.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Elkins Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Brian McIntyre will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Monday. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.Charlotte is survived by a daughter, Suzette Norris McCanless and husband, Kevin, Florence; a son, Charles Norris, Florence; grandchildren, Maddox Lynn McCanless and Charlotte Annslee McCanless; sister, Alyce Young Pride and husband, Gerald, Florence, and Bonita Bellamy Crook and husband, David, Gallatin, Tenn.; brother, Gordon Anderson Bellamy, Florence; the father of her children, Roger M. Norris, Florence; stepfather, Gordon Bellamy, Florence; stepdaughters, Susan Shay Williams and Betsy Williams McNairy, Tuscumbia; an aunt, uncle and several nieces and nephews.Pallbearers will be Max Pride, Jeff Crook, Tommy Milstead, Dewey Mitchell, Murray Townsend, Scott Townsend, Drew Spry, Matt Bellamy and Scott Spry.Jordan Bellamy and the staff of Listerhill Credit Union will serve as honorary pallbearers.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Shoals, the American Cancer Society, the Charlotte Y. Williams Scholarship Fund and UNA and Edgemont United Methodist Church.
