Charlotte R. Carter - SAVANNAH - Charlotte R. Carter, 77, also fondly known as "Zero" by family and friends, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Candler Hospital. The Chickamauga, GA native had lived in Savannah for most of her life. She was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and during that time was the lead singer in a country band. She was a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator and was a Real Estate Agent in Savannah for the past thirty-four years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Rincon. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Gene Carter, a son, Gary Michael Carter, a grandson, Edwin Paul Schaffhauser, Jr., her parents, Oliver C. and Rosa Walraven Johnson, and eight brothers and sisters. Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Vickie Schaffhauser and Edwin Paul Schaffhauser, Sr., of Rincon; her son, Mark Carter of Savannah; her brother, Archie Johnson of Chickamauga, GA; her husband, Patrick Hilton; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with the Rev. Bob Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
