WEAVER Charlotte Grace (Bitter) Weaver passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2008. Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Buck Weaver, in February of 2000 after 54 years of marriage. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, March 17, 2008, at Orange Park United Methodist Church, 2063 Park Avenue, Orange Park, with Pastor Pearl Boles officiating. Interment will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens. Charlotte was born on February 24, 1925, in Baltimore, Maryland. She grew up in Eastport and Annapolis. Charlotte was an excellent student and athlete and was recognized as Miss Superlative and also Miss Annapolis High during her senior year. Charlotte attended Maryland State Teachers College and married Dr. Buck Weaver in 1944. They spent their life together moving around the continental U.S. and Hawaii to various Navy duty stations as they raised four children and collected a menagerie of pets. In 1971 Charlotte received her bachelor's degree from Jacksonville University. In 1963 Charlotte settled with her family in Orange Park in a lovely home on Holly Point Road West. She became very active in the Orange Park Woman's Club for many years, serving as president and in many other capacities. Charlotte helped produce the club's Orange Stocking Review for several years. She also led the fundraising effort and then organized and coordinated the building of the Woman's Club function hall, later named the Charlotte G. Weaver Hall in her honor. Surviving her is her devoted daughter, Tanya L. McCranie; sons: Kent D. Weaver, Morris H. Weaver and W.A. (Buck) Weaver, Jr.; grandchildren: Kyle Moody, Jeffrey McCranie, Anthony, Grace, Kelly, Carlin and Douglas Weaver. Family will greet friends on Sunday afternoon from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to Safe Animal Shelter, 2913 County Road 220, Middleburg, 32068, or to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, 32257.
