Charlotte Berta Edwards, age 79, of Niceville, Fla., passed away May 20, 2008, from a heart attack after some years of declining health. She was born on Oct. 1, 1928, in Nuremberg, Germany, to Alfred Heinrich and Maria Kunigunde Rost. "Lotte," as she was called by her German relatives, grew up in Nuremberg together with her parents and her brother. During the long journey of her life she came in 1954 to the United States. In 1983 she met the love of her life, her late husband Delbert F. Edwards, formerly chief of police of Coral Gables, Fla. In the early 90s, Charlotte and Dell settled in Bluewater Bay, where Dell preceded her in death in 1994. Charlotte "Lotte" Edwards is survived by her brother, Herbert Rost, his wife Ruth, and their sons, Markus and Borries. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1407 E. John Sims Parkway, Niceville. A reception will immediately follow. Pastor John Underdahl will officiate the service. A private burial will take place at a later date. Professional arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home.
