CLARK, CHARLOTTE ANDERSON, 88, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the Episcopal Church Home in Louisville after a lengthy illness. Born on July 26, 1924 in Wilson, NC to the late Dorothy Mae Pillsbury and James Banks Anderson, Charlotte lived most of her life in High Point and Jamestown, NC before moving to Kentucky to be near her daughter. She attended St. Mary's College in Raleigh, NC and in 1945 married the love of her life, George P. Clark, Jr., also of Wilson, upon his graduation from Duke University. She worked in the Duke University Sports Information Department, the High Point office of the New England Mutual Life Insurance Co., and later in life at the Jamestown Methodist Church. Charlotte enjoyed music and sang for many years in the choir of Wesley Memorial Methodist Church in High Point. She served on the board of the High Point Community Concert Association, often helping entertain visiting artists. She was an active member of the High Point Regional Hospital Guild and served several terms on the board of Fellowship Hall in Greensboro, NC. Most of all, though, Charlotte was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, an effervescent hostess, a wonderful cook, and a caring friend. She loved reading, chocolate and the Duke Blue Devils. Charlotte is survived by her children, Priscilla C. Tillett (Robert Jr.) of Louisville, George P. Clark III (Dorothy) of Durham, NC, and Kenneth G. Clark, of Charleston, SC; sisters, Isabel M. Pennell, of Mesa, AZ and Lalla Kay Griffin, of Jamestown, NC; four grandchildren, Arden Clark Mills (Adam) and Patrick Clark of Durham, NC and Kathryn Tillett and James Tillett (Tracy) of Louisville; and four great-grandchildren, Jack and Luke Mills of Durham, NC, and Harper and Anderson Tillett of Louisville. Charlotte's family would like to thank the caring staff of the Episcopal Church Home as well as her compassionate caretakers from HOSPARUS for their many kindnesses to her. A memorial celebration of Charlotte's life will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday in St. Luke's Chapel at the Episcopal Church Home. Please enter from Lyndon Lane. Private burial will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson, NC at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Duke Children's Fund, Duke Medicine, 512 Magazine St., Suite 400, Durham, NC 27701.
